On the afternoon of 1st November, English teacher Lei Luoxia from Grade 8 showcased a demonstration lesson. In attendance were all teachers with the English Teaching& Research Group of the Junior High Department in the east campus of Anqing Foreign Language School. Afterwards, they carried out discussions with regard to this lesson vigorously. More noticeably, President Madam Huang Wenli attended the public class in person, provided guidance& pertinent evaluations on Ms. Lei’s lesson and put forward valuable advice as well.
The content of Ms. Lei’s class is abstracted from Section A 1a-1c of Unit 5 ‘Do you want to watch a game show?’ in Volume Eight of ‘Go For it!’ with the PEP Edition. In this lead-in class, the main contents centered on various kinds of TV programs, such as sports shows and talent shows.
During the teaching process, students’ interest and confidence in English studies were strengthened owing to the explicit teaching objectives, recurring teaching links, diversified teaching activities in addition to the moderately difficult activity designs. At the end of this lesson, Ms. Lei reminded students that they should not get obsessed in television which would do harm to their health.
What’s more, so as to provide more concrete and effective proposals for Ms. Lei, the English Teaching& Research Group implemented seminars and lesson assessment grade by grade.
Furthermore, group representatives proceeded their concluding remarks respectively, which enabled Ms. Lei to discard the deficiencies and select the essence more easily. Meanwhile, teachers present came up with specific improvement suggestions on this open class.
In summary, we firmly believe that with the jointed efforts of all English teachers, the English Teaching& Research Group is bound to develop in a more professional way and tangibly enhance the English levels of students in Anqing Foreign Language School!
